Celebrating the 250th Birthday of our country.

This piece was created to honor the men who risked their lives, their families~losing everything. The British proclaimed that our forefathers had comitted treason to the crown, in the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Many were slaughtered, families murdered and dispersed, homes burnt to the ground, they were ostrisized from community and their land.

The title of the piece is, “Door of Hope”.

Adopted on on July 4th, 1776…250 years ago,

The conviction and vision of freedom for all compelled these men to sign their names on August 2nd, 1776 ~

Their great faith in Jesus Christ~cried out, moving their hearts gifting Life to the generations that have followed, and why we stand free men today.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Much thankfulness to so many that have signed this piece…

Mind Blown Moment, while painting this piece:

A gentleman named Gerry Dicey came up and was observing the piece as I was working, and I turned and said, hello and asked him if he would like sign his name or write a quote…I handed him the pen to sign…he then said,

“I will sign for my forefather and myself.”

His Great great great great great great 🤍grandfather, was Elbridge Gerry (who he was named after).

Elbridge Gerry was an American Founding Father, former 5th Vice President and Signer of the Declaration of Independence~ blew my heart out!

The heritage of Elbridge Gerry, arrived to find me that day in the hot sun, and Gerry Dicey made his mark~isn’t it amazing how far reaching one act of sacrifice~just one decision we make can change the course of history?
